Yeah, definitely a great app, best one for DJing on a mobile platform for sure.
I have it for both iPhone / iPad, pretty crazy how you can just connect it to speakers via headphone jack and just start DJing.Do you think DJs would be willing to adapt this though? Like DJing on 2 iPads instead of turn tables? I’m not sure I would…
Andrew and Andrew use iPads and iPods already for djing their sets and I know others use them for controller purposes – I don’t think its too hard to imagine them being used more in the future. My only squabble with them is the wireless connection – still a bit buggy for me to really trust it. But just for running djay straight into a system – I wouldn’t think any less of someone rocking a party with just an iPad – in fact I would think thats pretty cool. But just like digital I think it would be a long time before purists get used to the idea.
You can make those cables from Tandy / Radio Shack parts pretty easily though… it’s an old trick for DJing without a DJ sound card.
I love djay, and I hear stories of it rescuing DJs playing in pro situations!

I don’t think I could stand DJing without physical controls. It’d be like going back to VDJing with a mouse and keyboard!
One of the largest barriers I see is the fact that, currently, the most HD space you can get in an iPad is 64GB. Even if I **shudder** downsampled to 128 kbps AAC files, that’s not a very big library one can tote along.

Definitely. I trimmed some of the fat from my music library (basically just went through and went ctrl+clickclickclickclick delete on some folders I didn’t listen to any more). My music library is now 10 GiB, still bloated and has HEAPS for me That said, I don’t do 10 hour sets.
With proper planning I can do a couple of hours with 500mb of 320k files and have enough left over for an encore set. Not that I get very many (any) requests for encore sets. 😎
